English Translation
Dhritarashtra said: O Sanjaya, assembled on the holy field of Kurukshetra, eager to fight, what did my sons and the sons of Pandu do?
Commentary (टीका)
This opening verse sets the entire tone of the Gita. Dhritarashtra's use of 'mamakah' (my sons) versus 'Pandavah' (sons of Pandu) reveals his deep attachment and partiality. The word 'Dharmakshetra' is significant — the field of righteousness will ultimately favor dharma over adharma.
