Krishna begins enumerating the components of the field (Kshetra). The five great elements are earth, water, fire, air, and space. The ten senses are five organs of perception (sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch) and five organs of action (speech, hands, feet, reproduction, excretion), plus the mind as the eleventh.
