English Translation

When the seer perceives no doer other than the Gunas and knows that which is higher than the Gunas, he attains My nature.

Commentary (टीका)

This is the pivotal verse for liberation. When one realizes that all actions are performed by the Gunas of Prakriti and that the Self is a mere witness beyond all qualities, one attains the divine nature of Krishna. This realization requires both intellectual discrimination and direct experiential insight that the true Self has never been a doer.
