English Translation
Know Rajas to be of the nature of passion, arising from craving and attachment. It binds the embodied soul, O son of Kunti, through attachment to action.
Commentary (टीका)
Rajas is characterized by intense desire, restlessness, and the drive to achieve and possess. It creates an insatiable thirst for more — more wealth, more power, more pleasure. It binds the soul by making it believe that happiness lies in external accomplishments, keeping it perpetually engaged in feverish activity.
