English Translation
That happiness which is like poison in the beginning but like nectar in the end, born of the clarity of self-knowledge — that is declared to be sattvic.
Commentary (टीका)
One of the most profound verses on happiness. Spiritual practice, discipline, and self-knowledge may feel difficult initially — like poison to the ego. But their fruits are eternal bliss — like nectar. This verse teaches patience: the highest joy requires initial effort and self-discipline.
