Hindi Translation (हिन्दी अर्थ)

जो सुख आरम्भ में और बाद में भी आत्मा को मोहित करने वाला है, जो निद्रा, आलस्य और प्रमाद से उत्पन्न होता है — वह तामसिक कहा गया है।

English Translation

That happiness which deludes the self both in the beginning and in the end, arising from sleep, laziness, and negligence — that is declared to be tamasic.

Commentary (टीका)

Tamasic happiness is delusory from start to finish — it is never real joy but merely the dull comfort of ignorance, excessive sleep, and carelessness. Unlike rajasic pleasure which at least starts pleasantly, tamasic comfort never truly satisfies because it is rooted in unconsciousness and avoidance of reality.
