आदित्यानामहं विष्णुर्ज्योतिषां रविरंशुमान्।

मरीचिर्मरुतामस्मि नक्षत्राणामहं शशी॥

Adityanam-Aham Vishnur-Jyotisham Ravir-Amshuman.

Marichir-Marutam-Asmi Nakshatranam-Aham Shashi.

Hindi Translation (हिन्दी अर्थ)

आदित्यों (बारह सूर्यों) में मैं विष्णु हूँ, ज्योतियों में तेजस्वी सूर्य हूँ, मरुतों (वायुदेवताओं) में मरीचि हूँ और नक्षत्रों में चन्द्रमा हूँ।

English Translation

Among the Adityas I am Vishnu; among luminaries, the radiant Sun; among the Maruts I am Marichi; and among the stars I am the Moon.

Commentary (टीका)

The vibhuti list begins with celestial beings and luminaries. Vishnu is the greatest of the twelve Adityas, the Sun is the most prominent light, Marichi leads the wind gods, and the Moon rules the stars. Each example represents the highest or most distinguished in its category, teaching devotees to see God in all that is excellent and supreme.
