English Translation
Being beginningless and without qualities, this imperishable Supreme Self, though dwelling in the body, O son of Kunti, neither acts nor is tainted.
Commentary (टीका)
The Supreme Self is untouched by action or its consequences despite residing in the body. Being beginningless, it was never created and so cannot be affected by anything. Being Nirguna (without material qualities), the actions of the Gunas cannot stain it. Like space contained in a pot that remains unaffected by what happens inside the pot, the Self remains ever pure.
