Hindi Translation (हिन्दी अर्थ)
English Translation
Just as the one sun illuminates this entire world, so does the one knower of the field (the Self) illuminate the entire field (the body), O Bharata.
Commentary (टीका)
This is one of the Gita's most powerful analogies. Just as one sun illuminates the whole world without being affected by what it illumines, the one conscious Self illuminates the entire body-mind complex without being tainted by its activities. The sun does not become wet by illuminating water or dirty by illuminating mud — similarly, the Self remains pure while making all experience possible.
