Hindi Translation (हिन्दी अर्थ)

English Translation

The Supreme Lord said: One who performs their obligatory duty without depending on the fruits of action is a true sannyasi and yogi — not one who merely renounces fire rituals, nor one who merely renounces action.

Commentary (टीका)

Krishna opens this chapter by redefining both sannyasa and yoga. The true renunciate is not one who abandons rituals or sits idle, but one who performs duty without attachment to results. This revolutionary definition unites the paths of renunciation and action, showing that inner detachment while performing one's duty is the highest spiritual practice.
