Hindi Translation (हिन्दी अर्थ)
English Translation
Know that state of disconnection from the union with sorrow as what is called yoga. That yoga should be practiced with determination and an undaunted mind.
Commentary (टीका)
Krishna provides a beautiful definition of yoga: it is the state of disconnection from sorrow (duhkha-samyoga-viyoga). Then He prescribes two essential attitudes for practice: firm determination (nishchaya) and an undaunted spirit (anirvinna-chetasa) that does not become discouraged by difficulties. Yoga requires both resolve and patience — one must persist cheerfully through all obstacles.
