English Translation
Serenity of mind, gentleness, silence, self-control, and purity of intent — this is called the austerity of the mind.
Commentary (टीका)
Mental austerity is the deepest form of tapas, addressing the root level where thoughts arise. A serene, gentle, and controlled mind with pure intentions creates the foundation for all spiritual progress. Unlike physical austerity, mental discipline is invisible yet most transformative.
