Hindi Translation (हिन्दी अर्थ)

English Translation

Those who know the three Vedas, who drink the Soma juice, who are purified of sins, worship Me through sacrifices and pray for passage to heaven. They reach the holy world of Indra and enjoy divine celestial pleasures.

Commentary (टीका)

Krishna describes the path of Vedic ritualism. Those who perform elaborate sacrifices with the desire for heavenly rewards do attain those rewards temporarily. However, this verse sets up the contrast with the next verse, which reveals the limitation of such desire-motivated worship — the enjoyments of heaven are temporary, and one must eventually return to the mortal world.
